Everyone and everything matters, and nothing and no one is unaffected
by the circumstances in which they function. It follows, therefore,
that even the most celebrated among us know secret agonies, and even the
most prosaic of us have transcendent moments. The former of these requires that, in every circumstance, we act with compassion. The latter fits me like a glove ... at least, the prosaic part does ... :-)
Taken together, the pair are a tongue-in-cheek reference to my handle as publisher of Thoughts4Change: Bodhisattva Mickie. That handle is a thumbnail of my beliefs. As I'm sure they do for most people, beliefs underlie my politics. Hence this blog.
We progressives need as many forums as we can get. Conservatives (note I didn't say Republicans) excel at only one thing - controlling the public discourse. They beg, borrow, cheat, lie, or shout
in order to direct the flow of the conversation. Benghazi, anyone?
